Kick off 2018

In June 2018, Jazzforkids visited the Netherlands performing in a fantastic way and in 2019 The Young Ones came to Spain in order to continue this cultural trip: a musical, professional and unforgettable experience.

Concerts in Alquezar on 6th July 2019 and in Huesca on 7th July

«Jazzforkids» invited “The Young Ones” (50 musicians from Hulst) to Huesca on 5, 6, and 7 July 2019 where they met again, playing in different jazz combos, having big band rehearsals and improvisation classes with different teachers. The HU2 JC performed twice, the first time in Alquezar and the final concert was in Huesca’s city center, where the Dutch councillor Frank van Driessche represented Hulst.

In the first edition of this project, the Dutch saxophonist Yoran Aarssen was invited to provide a masterclass about improvising, whereas in 2019 we embraced the Dutch conductor Machiel de Kruijf, Alejandro Esperanza & José Antonio Lopez who also worked with different combos on improvisation and interpretation.

Women & Jazz

An important part of this musical encounter is to promote and highlight the importance of young women playing Jazz and continue doing so. So therefore we created a female combo where girls from both countries exchange musical experiences and give more visibility to women in the world of jazz.
